Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home for a pair of MIAA games, starting with Northeastern State on Thursday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her first season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Keizer has spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.
Randy Gipson begins his 16th season as the head coach at Northeastern State. Gipson holds a career coaching record of 289-147, all at NSU, and has led his program to seven NCAA appearances.
The series between Southwest Baptist and Northeastern State is tied 7-7. Northeastern State has won the last three meetings between the two schools, including a 60-47 victory at NSU last season.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist fell at Fort Hays State on Monday evening 56-72. With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 5-6 (1-3 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Dilonna Johnson who is averaging 10.2 points per game to go along with a team high 2.8 assists per game. Off of the bench,
Megan Rosenbohm also averages double figures at 10.0 points per game, while
Sarah Magana pulls down a team high 3.8 rebounds per game.
Scouting the RiverhawksNortheastern State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 7-5 (3-2 MIAA) record on the season. NSU is coming off of a 59-45 victory over Northwest Missouri, but have dropped two of their last three. The Riverhawks are led in scoring by Chelsey Beathard who averages 10.9 points per game, while Fontana Tate averages 10.8 points per game and a team high 4.8 rebounds per game.
