Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home for a pair of MIAA games starting with Northeastern State on Thursday.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Jason Tinsley is in his 1st year as the head coach at Northeastern State. Tinsley came to NSU from Louisiana College where he was the head women's basketball coach.
Northeastern leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 11-3. Northeastern State claimed last year's match-up 97-91 in Tahlequah.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a thrilling 72-70 victory over Fort Hays, and are now 7-7 (2-3 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by
Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 11.4 points per game and a team high 10.4 rebounds per game.
Daymond Cowlah averages 10.7 points per game to go along with 2.9 assists per game, while
Quinton Smith averages 7.9 points per game,
Derrick Stewart averages 7.6 points per game, and
Robert Shaw averages 7.4 points per game.
Scouting the RiverhawksNortheastern State is coming off of a 83-59 loss to Northwest Missouri and are now 3-9 (1-4 MIAA) on the season. NSU has dropped three of their last four games, including three straight MIAA contests. The Riverhawks are led in scoring by Demone Harrison who averages 13.1 ppg, while Keon Littleton averages 10.6 ppg and a team high 6.1 rpg.
