SBU Men's Basketball Hosts Missouri Southern on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns for a pair of home games starting off against Missouri Southern on Thursday.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Jeff Boschee enters into his first year as the head coach at Missouri Southern after serving four seasons as an assistant and associate head coach.

Missouri Southern leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 48-41. The last time MSSU and SBU met, the Lions claimed a 113-83 victory last season in Joplin.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats snapped their four game losing streak with a 69-50 win over Lincoln and are are now 9-11 (4-7 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 11.8 points per game and an MIAA high 10.1 rebounds per game. Daymond Cowlah also averages 10.3 points per game to go along with 2.8 assists per game, while Derrick Stewart averages 7.9 points per game, Finn Delany averages 7.5 points per game, Quniton Smith averages 7.4 points per game, and Robert Shaw averages 6.8 points per game.

Scouting the Lions
Missouri Southern enters into the game against the Bearcats with a three-game win steak and are 13-6 (7-3 MIAA) on the season. The Lions are coming off of a 77-65 win at Missouri Western. MSSU is led in scoring and rebounding by Taevaunn Prince who is averaging 15.9 ppg and 7.1 rpg. Lane Barlow is also in double-figures at 12.0 ppg and 3.1 apg while Cameron Cornelius averages 10.6 ppg and Austin Wright averages 10.4 ppg.
