SBU Men's Basketball to Host Lindenwood on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist continues their short homestand when they host Lindenwood on Thursday.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.

Brad Soderberg enters into his sixth year on the bench at Lindenwood, and his 19th year as a collegiate head coach. Soderberg has collected 100 wins for the Lions through five years.

Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Lindenwood 3-2. Southwest Baptist claimed a 66-61 victory in Bolivar last season.

Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats fell in the final seconds to Missouri Western 65-64, and now stand at 8-10 (3-6 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by Menas Stephens who averages a double-double at 12.2 points per game and an MIAA high 10.3 rebounds per game. Daymond Cowlah also averages 10.0 points per game to go along with 2.8 assists per game, while Derrick Stewart averages 8.1 points per game, Quniton Smith averages 7.5 points per game, Robert Shaw averages 7.1 points per game, and Finn Delany averages 7.0 points per game.

Scouting the Lions
Lindenwood has won seven in a row and enter into the game against Southwest Baptist 11-6 (6-2 MIAA) on the season. The Lions picked up a 63-58 win over Missouri Southern in their last MIAA contest. The Lions are led in scoring and rebounding by Cory Arentsen who averages 15.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Darris Smith is also in double-figures at 12.3 ppg while Garrett Reeg averages 8.7 ppg.
