Box Score Huntsville, Ala. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team continued their strong weekend play, winning their fourth straight contest with a 3-1 victory over host Alabama-Huntsville. SBU now stands at 4-0 on the season after the opening weekend of play.
The Bearcats claimed set one 27-25 and set two 25-21 before falling 27-25 in the third set. SBU claimed the match with a 25-18 set four victory.
Kalyn Sotomayor and
Payton White led the Bearcats with 16 kills each, while
Lori Angello added 13 kills and
Taryn Marton added 11. Defensively the Bearcats had four in double figure digs, led by
Hannah Blount with 16,
Christine Winkelman 11,
Katy Fitzpatrick 11, and
Kelsey Fankhauser with 13 digs and 55 assists.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, September 12 when they travel to Aberdeen, South Dakota for the Northern State Invitational. SBU will take on #21 Northern State at 12:15 p.m. followed by Minnesota-Crookston at 4:45 p.m.
