Box Score Huntsville, Ala. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team completed the day one sweep at the UAH Classic on Friday afternoon, taking down Trevecca Nazarene 3-1. The Bearcats now move to 2-0 on the young season.
The Bearcats took the first two sets 26-24 and 25-23 before dropping the third set 15-25. SBU came back to finish off Trevecca Nazarene 25-17 in the deciding set to claim the 3-1 victory.
Lori Angello led the way for SBU with a career high 15 kills, while
Kalyn Sotomayor pitched in 13 kills. Defensively
Hannah Blount once again led the way with 15 digs while
Katy Fitzpatrick and
Christine Winkelman both added 11 digs, and
Kelsey Fankhauser handled the setting duties with 38 assists.
SBU will return to action on Saturday, September 6 for the final day of the UAH Classic. The Bearcats first match is set to take place at 9:00 a.m. against Miles College, followed by a 1:00 p.m. match against host Alabama-Huntsville.
