Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team fell to the hands of Maryville on Thursday afternoon 7-2 to open up the 2014 season. The Bearcats stand at 0-1 on the young season.
The Bearcats were the first to strike in the contest when
Ryan Estus connected on a goal at the 25:59 mark in the first half to give SBU a 1-0 lead. Maryville responded twelve minutes later, to tie the game up at 1-1, and would take a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. Maryville continued to push, scoring the games next five goals, but the Bearcats got on the scoreboard one last time at the 87:41 mark with Estus' second goal of the game. SBU would fall 7-2 in their first contest of the 2014 season.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, September 6 when they travel to Missouri S&T to take on the Miners. Opening kick is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. from Rolla, Missouri.
