Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team played a strong game scoring 4 goals to take the big 4-2 victory over University of Nebraska Kearney on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar. With the win, SBU moves to 6-1 (4-0 MIAA) on the season.
Early on in the 9th minute the bearcats had a goal by
Karla Jamison with the assist from
Elin Hammar. The Bearcats broke free again in the 29th minute,
Elin Hammar shot and scored with an excellent assist by
Amy Bolton. The Bearcats were called for a foul in the 42nd minute, and UNK's Meaghan Pasbrig put in the penalty kick to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Bearcats returned in the second half and quickly added to their lead in the 50th minute with a goal by
Karla Jamison assisted by
Kate Jamison. The Bearcats had several shots on goal in the rest of the half with
Elin Hammar hitting the post and narrowly missing. Shortly after
Kate Jamison got her first goal of the game with the assists by
Karla Jamison and
Elin Hammar bringing the Bearcats to four goals. Briefly following the goal, the Bearcats substituted in keeper
Kaitlin Webb for
Cheyenne Forshey. She had one save and then allowed one goal in the 66th minute by Montanna Hosterman with the assist by Kadie Walasczyk. The Bearcats finished strong and took the victory 4-2.
In goal keeper
Cheyenne Forshey picked up the victory, and the SBU defense held the Lopers to only 3 shots on goal the duration of the game.
SBU will return to action on Monday, September 29th when they host Newman University. Play is set to begin at 5:00 pm at Plaster Field in Bolivar.
