Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team dropped a close match to Fort Hays State on Friday evening 3-1. With the loss, SBU drops to 6-7 (1-4 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats fell in the first set 30-28, took the second set 25-19, but fell in the third and fourth sets 25-15 and 27-25.
Kalyn Sotomayor and
Taryn Marton led the way with a game high 14 kills each, while
Kelsey Fankhauser added 13 kills. Fankhauser gave SBU a double-double with 38 assists, while Marton also recorded a double-double by adding 16 digs.
Hannah Blount had a team high 28 digs, while
Christine Winkelman added 19 and
Katy Fitzpatrick 15 digs in the loss.
SBU will quickly return to action on Saturday, September 27th when they host #5 Nebraska-Kearney. Play is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
