Jamison & Schmidt Score 2 Goals Each, SBU Defeats UCO 4-1

Edmond, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up a huge road victory on Sunday afternoon by defeating Central Oklahoma 4-1. With the win SBU moves to 4-1 (2-0 MIAA) on the season.

SBU was once again quick out of the gates, netting their first goal of the game in only the 3rd minute of action. Taylor Schmidt finished off a long run with a shot to the left side of the net to quickly put the Bearcats up 1-0. SBU quickly added another goal in the 14th minute when Karla Jamison found the back of the net from 20 feet out off of a pass from Elin Hammar to give SBU a 2-0 lead. The Bearcats struck one more time in the 24th minute when Schmidt hit her second goal of the game when Amy Bolton fed a corner kick to Schmidt who placed it into goal to give SBU a 3-0 lead. Southwest Baptist held the 3-0 advance for the remainder of the half, taking the lead into the break.

In the second half Central Oklahoma cut the lead down to two off of an Emily Hahn goal, but the Bearcats continued to push back when Jamison had her second goal of the day when she put the ball into the right corner of the net to give SBU a 4-1 lead. SBU would hold strong for the remainder of the game, picking up the 4-1 victory. In goal, Cheyenne Forshey picked up the victory while collecting 4 saves.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Thursday, September 25 when SBU hosts Fort Hays State. Play is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
