SBU Football Falls to Indianapolis 48-14

Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team ran into tough competition on Saturday evening, falling to the defending GLVC champion Indianapolis 48-14. With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 1-2 (1-2 GLVC) on the season.

UINDY was the first to jump on the scoreboard, scoring the game's first 13 points as SBU trailed 13-0 halfway through the second quarter. After Indianapolis kicked their second field goal of the day, the Bearcats responded with a score of their own. Using a 71 yard drive, Willie Tindal found Kendrick Payne in the back corner of the endzone to cut the lead to 13-7. UINDY responded with a score of their own, but the Bearcats faught back, taking the ball back into UINDY territory. However, SBU was unable to score, and Indianapolis got another score before halftime as the Bearcats trailed 27-7 heading into the break.

In the second half, the Indianapolis defense held the Bearcats off of the scoreboard, and SBU went into the fourth quarter down 41-7. To open up the fourth quarter, the Bearcats used another 71 yard drive to put points on the scoreboard. Willie Tindal found Marcus Strickland on a three yard suffle pass, his second passing touchdown of the day. However, in the end, Southwest Baptist fell to Indianapolis 48-14.

The Bearcats will continue their three-game homestand when Missouri S&T comes into town on Saturday, September 27. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m from Plaster Stadium in Bolivar.
