Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team will open up their 2014 season on Thursday when they travel to William Jewell College. The 2014 season marks the first in which SBU will move into the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as an associate member.
Craig Schuler will begin his second season on the Bearcat bench after coming to SBU from Lindenwood University. Coach Schuler completed his ninth year as an assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Lindenwood this past season where he also served as recruiting coordinator. Schuler led one of the most prolific offenses in the nation during his tenure at Lindenwood, including averaging 45 points per game since the beginning of the 2009 season (45-game stretch). In 2010 Schuler's offense averaged a national record 8.94 yards per snap.

Jerod Kruse is in his 5th season as the head coach for William Jewell. Jones holds a career record of 17-36.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against William Jewell 4-0. SBU won their last meeting 35-0 at WJC in 2011.
