Box Score Pittsburg, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker at Pittsburg State on Tuesday evening, 3-2. With the loss, SBU falls to 5-4 (0-1 MIAA) on the season.
SBU started the match off strong, taking the first two sets 25-23 and 25-18 before dropping the next three sets 25-21, 25-17, and 15-13. Taryon Marton had a solid all-around game, leading the Bearcats in kills, with 15, while also recording 22 digs for a double-double.
Hannah Blount led the SBU backcourt with 25 digs, while
Kelsey Fankhauser took care of the setting duties with 41 assists.
Kalyn Sotomayor was also in double-figure kills with 14, while
Lori Angello registered 13 kills in the loss.
The Bearcats will return to the court in their 2014 home opener on Friday, September 19 when they host #14 Central Missouri. Play is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
