Box Score Rapid City, S.D. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team dropped a tough contest at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Friday evening 2-1. The Bearcats now fall to 0-4 on the season.
SBU quickly jumped on the scoreboard in the 14th minute of play when
Joshua Mason netted his first career goal to put the Bearcats up 1-0. SBU would hold that lead for the remainder of the first half, going into the half up 1-0. In the second half the Bearcats played strong defense for a majority of the half, but South Dakota School of Mines tied the game up at 1-1 in 74th minute off a goal from Jake Smith. The Hardrocker's then took the lead for good in the 83rd minute when Sean Tabbert scored the game winning goal as SBU was unable to get back on the scoreboard, falling 2-1.
The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, September 14 when they play the University of Mary. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota.
