Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's and women's tennis team received national recognition from the ITA in the men's and women's final national rankings released by the organization on Wednesday. Following a successful trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals, the women's team finished ranked #18 in the nation, while the men came in at #37.
In singles competition,
Fanni Varga concluded her season as the #12 ranked singles player in the nation after going 18-1 in singles play. The doubles team of Varga and
Christina Zentai jumped seven spots to finish as the #3 doubles team in the nation after their impressive play at the NCAA Championships. Varga/Zentai boasted a 22-1 record on the season, falling only to the top doubles team of the #1 ranked team in the nation.
In singles rankings on the men's side,
Kristof Kinal finished as the #32 ranked singles player finishing the year with a 15-3 record from #1 position. The doubles team of Kinal and
Omar El Kheshen finished as the #8 doubles team in the nation, compiling an 18-4 record from the #1 position.
