Allendale, Mich. - The Southwest Baptist University track and field team picked up two All-American honors in the final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Saturday.
Bill Shell and Elizabeth Luckel both earned All-American honors, the fourth time for Shell and the first time for Luckel.
Elizabeth Luckel kicked off the day with a 5th place finish in the women's 1500 meter run. Luckel earned her first All-American honors of her career, with an SBU record time of 4:27.07. In the men's 400 meter dash,
Bill Shell took home a 4th place finish in a time of 46.14. Shell picked up his second All-American honors of the season, and fourth of his career. Closing out the day Natalie O'Keefe finished 14th in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.65 meters.
"I am so proud of these six individuals and two coaches that I've spent this week at Nationals with," head coach
Corey McElhaney stated. "They represented SBU in such a great way this week. The track team has such a bright future and showed this week that we can compete with the best in the Nation!"
