Altamonte Springs, Fla. - For the second straight year, the Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team has advanced to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA National Championships. The Bearcats took down #35 Concordia (NY) 5-4 in a lengthy rain delayed match. SBU now improves to 23-3 on the season as they continue on in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bearcats jumped on top early, with Fanni Varga/Christina Zentai winning #1 doubles 8-4. After the Bearcats fell in #3 doubles, Mehak Singh/Lani Tuemmers picked up an 8-4 victory in #2 doubles to put SBU up 2-1 heading into singles.

SBU endured a lengthy rain delay, and came out fighting. Zentai claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #3 singles to give the Bearcats a 3-1 lead. Concordia (NY) responded by taking #2 and #6 singles, knotting the score up at 3-3, before SBU re-took the lead when Andjela Panovski picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #5 singles. Concordia (NY) picked up the #4 singles victory before Varga played an outstanding match, picking up a #1 singles victory 7-5, 6-7, 6-4.

The Bearcats will now move on to the quarterfinals where they will play #1 Barry University. The match is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. CST from Altamonte Springs, Florida.
