Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell at the hands of Missouri S&T in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon 7-4. With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 19-17 on the season.
SBU started the scoring off early, taking a 1-0 lead after the first inning of play. With one out,
Christian Binger singled up the middle and moved over to second on a groundout by
Spencer Blacksher.
Bo Helsel then doubled down the right field line, plating Binger, and giving SBU a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats added to their lead in the third when Binger led off with a walk, followed by a Blacksher single. Helsel then picked up his second rbi on the day with an rbi fielder's choice to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead.
Missouri S&T responded with four runs in the fifth, and another three in the seventh, to take a 7-2 advantage. In the bottom of the seventh SBU got two runs back on back-to-back solo homeruns from
Landon Young and Binger, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats would eventually fall 7-4.
SBU returns to MIAA action on Friday, April 11 when they host Fort Hays in a four-game series. The double-header on Friday is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
