Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team hosted a non-conference game against the Cardinals of William Jewell on Tuesday afternoon, taking care of business defeating the Cardinals 10-1. SBU pitcher
Matt Dye earned the win pitching 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts, as SBU improves to 19-16 on the season.
The game began in a pitchers dual and was all tied at 0-0 through two innings as light precipitation fell, before the Bearcats broke the dead lock with a 2 out bases loaded single by
Bo Helsel scoring 2 runs.
Chance Wolfe followed with a RBI single up the middle, scoring
Jake Vore, and taking a 3-0 lead through 3 innings of play. SBU increased the lead to 4-0 in the 4th off
Seth Ell's first career hit, a solo homerun to deep right field.
The Beacats lead off the bottom of the 6th with a single by
Chance Wolfe who went on to steal second.
Chance Wolfe advanced to third on a bunt single by
Ross Wolfe.
Tyler Hampton followed with an RBI bunt single bring home
Chance Wolfe and advancing
Ross Wolfe to second.
Ross Wolfe scored from second off an RBI triple by
Landon Young, who eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Christian Binger then hit a solo homerun to right field to increase the Bearcat lead to 8-0.
The Bearcats added two more runs, off of an rbi triple by
Chance Wolfe and a sacrifice fly from
Ross Wolfe, as they cruised to a 10-1 victory.
The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, April 9th when they host Missouri S&T in a single nine inning non-conference contest. First pitch is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
