Springfield, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team claimed their 4th straight MIAA Tournament Championship on Sunday morning, defeating #31 Northeastern State 5-2. The Bearcats now stand at 21-3 on the season as they enter into the NCAA National Championships.
The Bearcats started things going by taking two of three doubles matches with victories coming from
Fanni Varga/
Christina Zentai and
Andjela Panovski/
Paula Carvajaleno.
Mehak Singh was the first to claim a singles match, followed by
Zorana Jovanovic, and
Fanni Varga gave SBU the 5-2 victory with her singles win.
SBU has earned the automatic qualifier into the NCAA National Tournament and will wait to learn who they opponent will be in the opening round of the NCAA Central Regionals.
