Springfield, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's tennis team came up just short in the MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament, falling in the finals to Northwest Missouri 5-1. The Bearcats now stand at 11-9 as they await confirmation of participation in the NCAA Tournament.
Southwest Baptist trailed Northwest Missouri 2-1 after doubles play, with the doubles teams of

Chris Blodig picking up the lone victory. Three singles matches were still in progress when the required five point victory was accomplished by NWMSU.
The Bearcats will now wait and see if they will receive an at-large bid into the NCAA National Tournament. In the most recent regional rankings released by the NCAA, SBU was ranked 2nd in the Central Region with four teams qualifying.
