Box Score 2 Bolivar, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University softball team closed out MIAA play with a split against Missouri Southern on Saturday. The Bearcats finished with the second most MIAA wins in the history of the program as they now stand at 16-30 (8-18 MIAA).
In game one Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern were in a tight pitchers dual throughout the entire game. The Bearcats broke through the tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun from Caityln Cooner to give SBU a 1-0 lead.
Kyra Parker came on in the seventh to continue her domination as she finished with a complete game three-hitter to give SBU the 1-0 victory.
In game two the Bearcats and Lions were scoreless through three before MSSU got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth as SBU trailed 1-0. Missouri Southern added another three in the seventh as SBU went on to drop game two 4-0.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, April 29 when they host Rogers State to close out the season. Opening pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
