Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - Landon Young recorded his 200th career hit as Southwest Baptist took game one of a four game series against Northeastern State 5-3 on Thursday afternoon. Young becomes one of only three Bearcats all-time to reach the 200 hit plateau. The Bearcats move to 23-18 (19-13 MIAA) on the season after the victory.

After a pair of scoreless innings, Northeastern State jumped ahead 3-0 in the top of the third inning. The Bearcats responded back in the bottom of the third when Spencer Blacksher hit his MIAA leading 12th homerun of the season, pulling SBU within two at 3-1.

SBU continued to battle, plating two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. After two quick outs, Tyler Hampton drew a two-out walk, followed by a double by Landon Young to put runners on second and third. Christian Binger then hit a two-rbi single through the right side to tie the game up at 3-3. The pitchers buckled down, as neither team allowed any runs over the next four innings.

In the bottom of the eighth, SBU was able to take their first lead of the game. Young led the inning off with a single through the left side, while Binger reached on an error and Blacksher on an intentional walk. The Bearcats took the lead on an error by the NSU second baseman, and added another run on a passed ball, to take a 5-3 lead. Sam Vergara would take the mound in the 9th to pick up his MIAA leading 8th save on the season while Spencer Andrews picked up the victory out of relief. SBU starter Cory Borsh threw an excellent game, throwing 7.1 innings while allowing three runs.

The Bearcats will continue their series with the RiverHawks on Friday, April 18. First pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 2:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
