Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in a double-header to Central Oklahoma on Friday afternoon in Bolivar. The Bearcats lost game one 16-0 and game two 10-6.
In game one the Bearcats struggled to get anything going offensively, collecting three hits across the seven innings, as SBU fell 16-0.
In game two both teams used the first inning to get on the scoreboard. Central Oklahoma scored a run in the first inning before SBU responded in the bottom half of the inning to take their first lead of the day. The Bearcats started the bottom of the first with back-to-back walks and a single, to load the bases with no outs. Two batters later
Drew Miller drew a walk, to tie the game up at 1-1.
Chance Wolfe then hit a two-rbi single to right field to give SBU a 3-1 lead.
Central Oklahoma responded with two runs in the top of the third inning, tying the game up at 3-3, and re-took the lead with three runs in the fifth. The Bearcats once again responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own. After back-to-back singles from
Christian Binger and
Spencer Blacksher, Wolfe knocked home two more runs with a double to cut the lead to 6-5. UCO got one run back in the sixth, but the Bearcats responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning off of Binger rbi single. UCO added three more runs in the top of the seventh, as SBU would eventually fall 10-6.
The Bearcats and Bronchos will close out their four-game series on Saturday, March 8. Opening pitch of the 9-inning game is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
