Box Score Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in the final game of a four-game series against Missouri Southern on Sunday afternoon 8-2.
The Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, and took a 4-0 lead heading into the fourth. In the top of the fourth, the Bearcats cut the Lions lead in half. With runners on first and second,
Bo Helsel singled to right field to get the Bearcats on the scoreboard. SBU added another run later in the inning off of an rbi single from
Tyler Hampton to cut the Southern lead to two at 4-2. However, SBU wouldn't get any closer as they eventually would fall 8-2.
The Bearcats will continue play on Friday, April 4 when they travel to Pittsburg State for a four-game series against the Gorillas. First pitch of game one is set for 6:00 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kansas.
