Box Score 2 Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team fell in a double-header at Joplin on Saturday afternoon, dropping the first game 7-1 and the second 4-2.
In game one of the double-header SBU jumped on the scoreboard quickly in the first inning.
Landon Young led the game off with a double, and was brought home two batters later on a sacrifice fly from
Spencer Blacksher to give SBU a 1-0 lead. Missouri Southern responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own to tie the game up at 1-1. MSSU added three runs in the fourth, and another three in the sixth, as SBU fell in game one 7-1.
In game two the Bearcats jumped ahead early in the top of the third inning. With a runner on second,
Landon Young doubled to right field to put SBU up 1-0. Young came home on a passed ball one batter later to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead. Missouri Southern got one run back in the bottom of the third, and another in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up at 2-2. MSSU then scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, as SBU would fall 4-2.
The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, March 30 for the final game of a four game series against Missouri Southern. Opening pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Joplin, Missouri.
