Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a double-header contest against Missouri Western on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats dropped game one 6-0 before falling 7-2 in game two.
In game one, the Bearcats struggled to get things going offensively. Missouri Western jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Griffons added runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings as SBU would fall 6-0 in game one.
In game two Missouri Western once again struck first, scoring a run in the second inning to go up 1-0. The Bearcats responded in the bottom half of the third inning with a pair of runs.
Stef Lischke tied the game up when she scored on a MWSU error, and then
Raigan Ratliff doubled home
Amanda Smith to give SBU a 2-1 lead. Missouri Western would score the next five runs in the game, as SBU fell 7-2.
The Bearcats quickly return to action on Tuesday, March 18 when they host Williams Baptist. First pitch of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
