Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hays, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in an MIAA double-header at #15 Fort Hays on Monday afternoon 9-5 and 6-0.

The Bearcats had the offense rolling in game one, but fell behind 4-0 early after the first inning of play. The Bearcats got two runs back in the top of the second when Londyn Backfisch doubled down the left field line to cut the Tigers lead in half at 4-2. Fort Hays responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 7-2, but SBU didn't back down. The Bearcats put runners on first and second with one out in the fifth inning before Addie Murders came home on an error to make the game 7-3. After a walk, Dana Graves smacked a single up the middle scoring two more runs to cut the lead back down to two at 7-5. The Bearcats were unable to get on the scoreboard again for the remainder of the game, despite stranding the bases loaded in the first, fifth, and seventh innings, as SBU fell 9-5.

In game two the Bearcats struggled to get anything going offensively. After Fort Hays jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the first inning, SBU pitcher Kyra Parker settled down and pitched four straight scoreless innings. Fort Hays extended their lead to 6-0 in the sixth as SBU was never able to get a run on the scoreboard as they would fall by that margin.

The Bearcats will return to MIAA action on Friday, March 14 when they host Northwest Missouri. First pitch of game one of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
