Box Score Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team fell at Central Missouri on Thursday evening, 69-56. With the loss, SBU falls to 11-11 (4-9 MIAA) on the season.
Central Missouri was quick out of the gate, going up 10-2 in the early minutes of the contest. The Mules slowly extended their lead, going up by 16 (26-10) with 6:47 left in the half. The Bearcats started to slowly chip away at the lead towards the end of the first half, cutting the UCM lead to six at 31-25 going into the break.
In the second half, SBU scored the first four points, cutting the UCM lead to two at 31-29. However, Central Missouri responded with eight straight points to push the lead back to double-digits at 39-29 with 15:16 left in the contest. The Bearcats would hold steady for the remainder of the contest, eventually falling 69-56.
Rashaad Brown-Peterson led the Bearcats with 25 points off of 11 of 17 shooting from the field.
Menas Stephens added 12 points while
Desi Barmore had 9 points and 8 rebounds and
Preston Guiot dished out 8 assists in the loss. As a team SBU shot 42.9% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc, and 46.2% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, February 11 when they host Lindenwood. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
