Baseball Falls in Double-Header at #29 Central Missouri

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's baseball team fell in a double-header matchup against #29 Central Missouri on Saturday. SBU fell in game one 3-1, followed by a 8-4 game two loss.

In game one the Bearcats were the first to strike in the top of the second inning when Ross Wolfe singled to right field to bring home Chance Wolfe to take a 1-0 lead. Central Missouri tied the game up in the bottom of the third, and took a 3-1 lead after two runs in the fourth. SBU was unable to get on the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, as the Bearcats fell in game one 3-1. Tim Collins threw a complete game for the Bearcats, throwing 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs with 5 strikeouts.

In game two Central Missouri quickly took a 6-0 lead after three innings. UCM extended their lead to 7-0 heading into the top of the eighth. In the eighth Southwest Baptist strung multiple hits together to get on the scoreboard. Back-to-back doubles from Landon Young and Christian Binger put SBU on the scoreboard down 7-1. Jake Vore then singled home Binger, and SBU scored another run on a fielding error by UCM, but stranded the bases loaded as the inning ended with SBU down 7-3. The Mules added another run in the bottom of the eighth, and SBU got another back in the top of the 9th off of a Binger solo homerun, but the Bearcats fell 8-4.

SBU will return home on Thursday, February 27 when they start a 4-game series against Nebraska-Kearney. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. from Dodson Field in Bolivar.
