Box Score 2 Bentonville, Ark. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell to Drury and host school Arkansas-Monticello on Sunday in the final day of the UAM Classic. The Bearcats lost to the Panthers 2-0, followed by a 6-2 loss against UAM.
Southwest Baptist had their chances against Drury University, stranding four runners in scoring position as well as getting a player thrown out at the plate. The Panthers were able to take a lead in the top half of the seventh, scoring two runs off of a Bearcat error, and SBU was unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning as the Bearcats fell 2-0.
Kyra Parker threw a great game from the circle, throwing a complete game while striking out 5 and giving up no earned runs.
In the second game of the day, Arkansas-Monticello quickly got on the scoreboard, scoring runs in the first and second innings. SBU found themselves down 6-0 heading into the sixth inning, where
Jordan Gray hit a sacrifice fly to put the Bearcats on the scoreboard. SBU got another run back in the seventh inning off of a solo homerun from
Dana Graves, but it wasn't enough as SBU fell 6-2.
The Bearcats will return to the field on Tuesday, February 18 when they travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to take on Williams Baptist. First pitch of the double-header is set for 1:00 p.m.
