Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist continues their road trip when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday to face the Lopers.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Clark Sheehy begins his first season on the SBU bench after coming to the Bearcats from John Brown University. Coach Sheehy holds a career coaching record of 182-106 across nine seasons while coaching six different All-Americans and over 20 athletes that have moved on to play professional basketball.
Tom Kropp is in his 35th year as a coach, and 25th year at Nebraksa-Kearney, entering the 2014-15 season. Kropp holds a career coaching record at UNK of 464-235 and has split head coaching duties with Kevin Lofton over the past 10 years.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Nebraska-Kearney 3-1. The Bearcats claimed a 96-93 victory over UNK last season in Bolivar.
Scouting the BearcatsThe Bearcats are coming off of a 68-56 loss at Washburn to open up MIAA play, as SBU drops to 3-5 (0-1 MIAA) on the season. Southwest Baptist is led in scoring by
Daymond Cowlah who averages 12.3 points per game to go along with 3.1 assists per game.
Menas Stephens averages a double-double at 11.0 points per game and a team high 11.4 rebounds per game, while
Robert Shaw is averaging 8.0 points per game.
Scouting the LopersNebraska-Kearney is coming off of a 93-73 victory over Missouri Southern to open up MIAA play and stand at 3-1 (1-0 MIAA) on the season. The Lopers are led in scoring by Ethan Brozek who averages 20.8 ppg and 9.3 rpg. Connor Beranek is also solid down low for UNK, averaging 13.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg while Ty Danielson (11.0 ppg) and Trey Lansman (10.3 ppg) both average double-figures.
