Box Score Topeka, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team came up short at #7 Washburn on Thursday evening 80-64. With the loss, SBU drops to 3-3 (0-1 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats struggled to get going, as Washburn quickly jumped out to a 12-0 lead to open up the contest. Washburn used the entire first half to slowly start building their lead, as Southwest Baptist went into the half down 39-17. In the second half the Ichabods went up a game high 30 points with 12:26 to go, but the Bearcats still continued to fight. SBU closed out the final four minutes by shrinking the deficit from 24 to 16 as the Bearcats fell 80-64.
Lissettee Plasencia led the way for the Bearcats with 14 points while
Morgan Lucy was also in double-figures at 11 points to go along with four rebounds and four blocks. As a team, Southwest Baptist shot 37.7% from the field, 29.4% from beyond the arc, and 70.0% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, December 6 when they travel to Nebraska-Kearney. The game against the Lopers is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. from Kearney, Nebraska.
