Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will take their three-game win streak on the road when they travel to Washburn on Thursday. Thursday's game is the first MIAA contest for both the Ichabods and Bearcats.
The Coaches and the All-Time SeriesSBU head coach
Kelsey Keizer in her first season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Keizer has spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.
Ron McHenry begins his 15th season as the head coach at Washburn. McHenry holds a coaching record of 358-82 (.814) at Washburn, including winning a national championship in 2004-05.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 35-12. Southwest Baptist won the last meeting between the two squads in the first round of the MIAA Tournament last season, where the Bearcats claimed an 85-73 victory at Washburn.
Scouting the BearcatsSouthwest Baptist is coming off of their third straight win with a 54-43 victory over McKendree. The Bearcats have now improved to 3-2 (0-0 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Dilonna Johnson who is averaging 12.4 points per game and a team high 2.8 assists per game.
Brook Duncan is also in double figures averaging 12.2 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game, while
Megan Rosenbohm averages 8.0 points per game and
Leann Terrill averages 7.2 points per game.
Scouting the IchabodsWashburn enters MIAA ranked as the #7 team in the NCAA. The Ichabods are coming off of a 75-47 victory over Newman and are 6-0 (0-0 MIAA) on the season. The Ichabods are led in scoring by Taylor Ignoto who is averaging 16.5 points per game, while Casyn Buchman averages 13.8 ppg and 6.0 rpg. Honor Duvall is also in double-figures at 11.0 ppg, while Washburn out-rebounds their opponents by more than 20 rebounds per game.
