SBU Women's Basketball Returns Home to Host #1 Emporia State on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home for one MIAA contest before hitting the road against on Christmas break. The Bearcats are set to host the top ranked team in the NCAA Division II, Emporia State.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer in her first season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Keizer has spent the past three years as the assistant at Southwest Baptist after playing collegiately for Division I Drake.

Jory Collins begins his 5th season as the head coach at Emporia State. In his first four seasons he has led Emporia State to two MIAA Tournament Championships, four conference title games and three trips to the NCAA Sweet 16. He is 96-31 in his first four years as a head coach.

Emporia State leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 34-12. ESU won the last meeting between the two squads in last year's MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals 90-69.

Scouting the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist has won two straight after defeating Missouri S&T in double-overtime, 81-78. SBU improves to 5-3 (1-1 MIAA) on the season. The Bearcats are led in scoring by Brook Duncan who is averaging 13.3 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. Dilonna Johnson is also in double figures averaging 10.9 points per game and 3.1 assists per game, while Megan Rosenbohm averages 8.8 points per game and Morgan Lucy averages 7.4 points per game.

Scouting the Lady Hornets
Emporia State comes into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 7-0 (1-0 MIAA) record and is ranked #1 in the NCAA Division II Poll. ESU is coming off of a 85-49 victory over Newman as they open up a three game road trip. The Lady Hornets provide a very balanced offensive attack, and are led in scoring by Kelly Moten who averages 14.3 ppg. Merissa Quick is also in double-figures at 12.0 ppg, while Amber Vandiver is the leading rebounder at 8.6 rpg. The Lady Hornets outscore their oponnents on average by 28.0 ppg.
