Box Score Olathe, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team used a 1-0 shutout victory over Fort Hays on Friday evening to earn their second straight trip to the MIAA Championships Final. With the victory, SBU ties the record for the most victories in a season as they now stand at 16-4 on the season.
The Bearcats were quick out of the gates in the MIAA Semifinal matchup against Fort Hays. In only the 8th minute of action,
Taylor Schmidt connected into the top left corner of the net to give SBU a quick 1-0 lead. SBU continued to dominate possession, and shot attempts, as the Bearcats maintained the 1-0 lead into the break.
In the second half SBU continued to see solid looks on goal, but were unable to add another goal on the afternoon. However, the one goal proved to be enough as freshman goal keeper,
Kaitlin Webb, gave SBU a complete game shutout as the Bearcats went on to a 1-0 victory.
SBU outshot FHSU 33-4 on the evening, taking complete control of the game. The Bearcats had 13 shots on goal, compared to only 1 for the Tigers.
SBU now advances to the MIAA Championship Match against #8 Central Missouri. The match is set to be played on Sunday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. from Olathe, Kansas.
