Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team defeated Northwest Missouri 3-1 on Saturday evening to close out the regular season home portion of their schedule. With the victory, SBU improves to 9-17 (4-14 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats picked up a 25-21 set one victory, and then claimed a thrilling 27-25 set two victory. Northwest Missouri came back to take set three 25-19 before Southwest Baptist took home the contest with a 25-16 set four victory.
Kelsey Fankhauser and
Taryn Marton both picked up double-doubles for the Bearcats, with Fankhauser recording a game high 52 assists to go along with 10 digs, while Marton had 18 kills and 18 digs.
Hannah Blount had a game high 23 digs, while
Lori Angello had 13 digs and
Katy Fitzpatrick added 10 digs. Offensively
Mackynzi Gibson had 15 kills while
Payton White added 10.
The Bearcats will hit the road on Friday, November 7 when they travel to Emporia State. Play is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Emporia, Kansas.
