Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team ran into a tough battle on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar, falling to Truman State 52-7. With the loss, SBU drops to 2-7 (1-7 GLVC) on the season.
Truman State kicked off the scoring in the first quarter, scoring on a two-yard run followed by a three-yard receptions as the Bearcats went down 14-0 heading in the second quarter of action. In the second quarter, the Southwest Baptist defense had a great goal line stand, limiting Truman State to just a field goal, but the Bulldogs would take on another short touchdown run as SBU went into the half trailing 24-0.
In the second half, TSU came out running again, breaking off a 47 yard touchdown run in the first possession as SBU fell behind 31-0. Truman State added two more long touchdown runs, one in the third quarter and one in the fourth quarter, before SBU was able to get on the scoreboard with 8:18 left in the contest.
Willie Tindal threw a beautiful fade to the back corner of the endzone where
Nathan Mourik made a spectacular catch to put SBU on the board, trailing 45-7. However, Truman State would add another rushing touchdown late as the Bearcats fell 52-7.
Willie Tindal led the offensive attack for the Bearcats, throwing for 223 yards and a touchdown while
Nathan Mourik hauled in 7 receptions for 95 yards and a score. On the defensive side of the ball,
Tyler Curts had a team high 9 tackles while
Antwaun Lewis added 8 tackles in the loss.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, November 8 when they travel to South Dakota School of Mines. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. from Rapid City, South Dakota.
