Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team fell in a close match to Southern Nazarene 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in Bolivar.
Southern Nazarene jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play, and then added two more goals in the 39th and 41st minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Southwest Baptist continued to fight when
Tyler Hedrick sent a long pass ahead of the Southern Nazarene defense.
Kyler Moore beat the Crimson Storm defense, dribbled around the goalie, and put the ball into the back of the net with 00:01 left on the clock as SBU went into the half down 3-1.
The Bearcats started the second half out strong when
Justin Schaeffer beat the SNU defense, and put a nice move on the goalie to pull SBU within one at 3-2. Southern Nazarene struck back in the 64th minute with a goal, as SBU went behind 4-2, but the Bearcats didn't give up. At the 69th minute, SBU came within one once again when
Cody Martin sent a cross into the box which
Gaspar Mata put into the goal as SBU trailed 4-3. The Bearcats were unable to get back on the scoreboard for the remainder of the game as they fell 4-3.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 11 when they host Lindenwood. Play is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
