Box Score Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team continued their strong season on Friday evening, blanking Missouri Southern 4-0. With the victory, SBU improves to an impressive 14-3 (11-2 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats came out in the first half ready to play against the Lions as SBU took the lead in the 22nd minute of play when
Whitney Snow scored on a pass from
Elin Hammar to put the Bearcats up 1-0. SBU continued to push when
Karla Jamison found
Taylor Schmidt who placed the ball into the upper corner of the net only four minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0. SBU added their third goal of the half when
Whitney Snow headed in a corner kick from
Amy Bolton as the Bearcats went into the break up 3-0.
In the second half
Amy Bolton picked up her second assist of the game when she sent the ball to
Averi Walker who put the Bearcats up 4-0 in the 52nd minute. The four goals were more than enough for goal keeper
Cheyenne Forshey, who picked up the win in 63 minutes of action. The Bearcats out-shot the Lions 20-5 with 19 different athletes seeing action on the field.
SBU will conclude regular season play on Sunday, November 2 when they travel to Northeastern State. Play is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
