Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team dropped a tough five-set match against Pittsburg State on Tuesday evening in Bolivar. With the loss, SBU falls to 8-16 (3-13 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats opened up play with a 25-17 set one victory, but then fell in set two 25-22. SBU bounced back to take set three 25-18, but dropped the final two sets 25-22 and 15-12. The Bearcats were led by
Taryn Marton who gave SBU a double-double with a team high 20 kills to go along with 16 digs.
Kalyn Sotomayor had 14 kills, while
Mackynzi Gibson added 10 kills, and
Kelsey Fankhauser chipped in 45 assists. Defensively,
Hannah Blount had a team high 21 digs, while
Christine Winkelmann added 11 digs in the loss.
SBU will return to action on Friday, October 31 when they host Missouri Western. Play is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
