Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team continued their strong season on Thursday afternoon in Bolivar, shutting out the Riverhawks of Northeastern State 2-0. With the victory, SBU now improves to 12-3 (9-2 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats and Riverhawks were a tough defensive battled throughout the entire first half, with only 12 combined shots being taken between the two squads. SBU and NSU would go into the half tied 0-0. In the second half both teams came out of the break playing a strong defensive battle, with the score remaining tied through the first 56+ minutes of action. The Bearcats finally broke the tied in the 56th minute when
Ali Skogrand headed in a corner kick from
Amy Bolton to give SBU a 1-0 lead. The SBU defense held strong, and the Bearcats added another goal in the 87th minute when
Karla Jamison knocked in her 11th of the year off of a pair of passes from
Elin Hammar to
Kate Jamison, as SBU went on to a claim a 2-0 victory.
In goal
Cheyenne Forshey provided SBU with her third shutout of the season while picking up two saves in the victory.
SBU will compete in the final regular season home contest on Saturday, October 25 against Central Oklahoma. Senior day is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
