Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University quarterback continued his record-breaking season by once again breaking the GLVC single game passing record, but the Bearcats fall to McKendree 53-43 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, SBU drops to 2-5 (1-5 GLVC) on the season.

SBU came out strong in the game's opening possession, taking the ball all the way down to the McKendree two yardline before settling for a 19 yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. After a couple of three-and-outs by both squads, the Bearcat defense held strong to set up an 85 yard punt return for a touchdown by Marvel Saffold to push the Bearcat lead to 10-0 with 4:46 to go in the opening quarter. McKendree responded quickly, punching the ball into the endzone off of a 1 yard touchdown run, but Southwest Baptist was ready to strike back. After a pair of first downs, Willie Tindal found Scottie Wilson Jr. down the sideline for a 40 yard touchdown pass as the Bearcats extended their lead to 16-7.

In the second quarter, McKendree cut the lead back to two with an 8 yard touchdown run, but SBU once again responded with points of the following drive. Tindal was able to hit Kendrick Payne across the middle of the field for a huge 75 yard catch and run to put the Bearcats up 23-14. The Bearcat defense held strong on the following McKendree possession, forcing a turnover on downs, and John Colliver hit his second field goal of the day, this one from 39 yards out, to extend the lead to 26-14. McKendree promptly responded with a score of their own, a 7-yard rushing touchdown, before Colliver would hit his third field goal of the first half, from 42 yards out, to give SBU the 29-21 lead heading into halftime.

To open up the second half, the SBU defense forced a three-and-out by McKendree. On the first play from scrimmage of the second half Deantrel Prince found room to run, taking the handoff 59 yards for a touchdown to give SBU a 36-21 lead. However, McKendree would score two straight scores before the quarter ended, including a two-point conversion, as SBU and MCK found themselves all tied up at 36 heading into the fourth quarter.

McKendree quickly put two more touchdowns on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter, taking a 50-36 lead over Southwest Baptist with 11:40 left in the contest. The Bearcats didn't back down, putting together their strongest drive of the second half, capped off by a 7 yard touchdown pass from Tindal to Marcus Strickland to cut the lead to 50-43. The Bearcats were unable to get back on the scoreboard in the games final nine minutes, as SBU would ultimately fall 53-43.

For the second straight week, SBU quarterback Willie Tindal broke the GLVC and SBU single game passing records when he threw for 479 yards with 3 touchdowns. On the receiving end, Kendrick Payne had a career high 158 yards on six receptions while Tristyn Bennett (81 yards), Scottie Wilson Jr. (77 yards), Nathan Mourik (72 yards), and Ivan Lofton (69 yards) all had productive days catching the football.
