Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team completed a thrilling five set match with a 3-2 victory over Missouri Southern on Tuesday night. With the victory, SBU moves to 7-12 (2-9 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats came out of the gates strong, taking the first two sets 25-13 and 25-21 before dropping the next two sets 25-23 and 25-18. The Bearcats took an exciting fifth and final set 15-12 to claim the 3-2 victory.
Offensively SBU was once again led by
Taryn Marton who had a team high 17 kills, while also adding 10 digs, to record another double-double on the season.
Kalyn Sotomayor added 12 kills, while
Mackynzi Gibson added 10 kills, to round of the Bearcats in double-digit kills.
Hannah Blount continues to lead the backcourt from the libero position, picking up a game high 24 digs, while
Christine Winkelman had 16 digs and
Kelsey Fankhauser gave SBU a double-double with 10 digs and a game high 46 assists.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, October 17 when they travel to #21 Central Missouri. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Warrensburg, Missouri.
