Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats begin a two-game road trip on Thursday when they travel to Northeastern State for a game against the RiverHawks.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his third season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 134-70 career coaching record (26-38 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.
Randy Gipson is in his 26th season as the head coach at Northeastern State. Gibson holds a career coaching record of 573-213, and a 283-136 record while at NSU.
SBU leads the all-time series against Northeastern State 7-6. The RiverHawks claimed last year's meeting 59-43 at SBU.
Scouting the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist stands at 6-5 (1-3 MIAA) on the season after falling to Fort Hays State 93-66 in their return to league action.
Brook Duncan leads the way for the Bearcats, averaging 16.5 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game, while
Jacqui Zelenka averages 12.4 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.
Dilonna Johnson averages 8.5 ppg and 5.0 assists per game, while
Mackenzie Skupa averages 9.9 ppg.
Scouting the RiverHawks
Northeastern State currently stands at 5-6 (2-2 MIAA) after falling to #8 Central Missouri 84-73 their last time out.
The RiverHawks are led in scoring by Fontana Tate who averages 12.2 ppg, and is the only NSU player in double-figures. Che'Ron Lewis pulls down a team high 5.8 rpg, while seven different players have dished out over 10 assists a piece on the season.
