SBU Men's Basketball Looks for Third Straight Win Against Missouri Southern on Thursday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will look for their third straight victory as they face Missouri Southern on Thursday.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 176-110 (.615) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Robert Corn is in his 25th season as the head coach at Missouri Southern, where he holds a career coaching record of 388-299 (.561).

Missouri Southern leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 46-41. Missouri Southern won last year's meeting by a final of 100-91.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU is coming off of back-to-back victories after defeating Lincoln 101-70. The Bearcats now stand at 10-9 (3-7 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats are led in scoring by Rashaad Brown-Peterson who averages 16.4 points per game, while Desi Barmore averages 16.4 ppg and 6.7 rebounds per game. Derrick Stewart averages 11.4 points per game, hitting a team high 52 three's, while Preston Guiot averages 9.2 points per game and 6.6 assists per game.

Missouri Southern comes into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 14-3 (8-2 MIAA) record on the season. Missouri Southern is coming off of a 105-71 victory against Missouri Western.

Missouri Southern represents a well-balanced offense, with four different players averaging more than 10 points per game. Marquis Addison leads the way, averaging 16.1 ppg, while Cameron Cornelius averages 12.9 ppg, Jordan Talbert 12.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg, and Slim Magee 11.1 ppg.
