Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats took on the Lincoln University Blue Tigers in a conference matchup Saturday afternoon in Meyer Sports Center. The SBU men exploded out of the gates and never looked back as

Menas Stephens tied career highs in 101-70 win over Lincoln.
The game started off at a grueling pace and saw numerous fast break points by the Bearcats. They took an early lead jumping out front 16-7 at the first media timeout. The Bearcats maintained their lead at the halfway point through the first half (32-20) and went into the half leading by 8 points at 45-37.
The SBU men came out hot and picked up the intensity while increasing their lead to 61-45 to start off the first five minutes of the second half. Halfway through the second half SBU had 4 players in double digits as they expanded their lead to 22 points (72-50). The Bearcats left no chance of a comeback from Lincoln as they cruised to a conference win by a final of 101 – 70.
Juniors
Derrick Stewart and
Menas Stephens both saw career highs as Stewart had 23 points and Stephens finished with 16 rebounds. The Bearcats had four players Barmore (23), Stewart (23) Brown-Peterson (10) in double digits while Stephens had 16 points to go with his 16 rebounds for a double-double. The Bearcats shot 59.6% from the field, 52.4% from beyond the arc, and 71% from the free throw line tonight.
The Bearcats continue a two game home stand Thursday January 30th as they take on Missouri Southern State University in a conference double header for the men and women basketball teams. The SBU women are set to tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m. central standard time.
