Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Men's Basketball played host to Northwest Missouri State University Thursday night at the Meyers Sports Center in an MIAA conference matchup. The SBU Bearcats are 8-8 with a 1-6 record in the MIAA play this year as the NWMSU Bearcats sit at 12-5 and 6-1 in conference standings. The first half was very fast paced with SBU finding themselves with an uphill battle to face in the second half trailing 54-32. SBU failed to mount a comeback in the second half as Northwest Missouri State went on to win 104-69.
The SBU Bearcats found out real quickly it was literally going to be a bear fight, as they saw themselves down 11-4 at the first media timeout of the ballgame. Northwest Missouri increased their lead to 18 points at 29-9 halfway through the first half. SBU went into the half down 54-32. Northwest Missouri State began to pull away in the second half as the SBU Bearcats fell 104-69.
Desi Barmore led the Bearcats with 11 points shooting 3-7 from the field and 5-8 from the free throw line. The Bearcats shot 41.4% from the field, 31.8% from beyond the arc, and 66.7% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats hit the road this Saturday January 18th as they take on Missouri Western in a conference double header for the men and women basketball teams. The SBU women are set to tip off at 1:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 3:30 p.m. central standard time.
