Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist returns home on Thursday evening to take on Northwest Missouri State University.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 174-108 (.617) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Ben McCollum is in his 4th season as the head coach of Northwest Missouri. McCollum holds a career coaching record of 65-48, and has lead NWMSU to back-to-back 20 wins seasons.
Northwest Missouri leads the all-time series 35-19, claiming last year's meeting 87-77.
Scouting Southwest Baptist
SBU is coming off of an 89-72 loss at Central Oklahoma and are now 8-7 (1-5 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Rashaad Brown-Peterson who averages 17.9 points per game, while
Desi Barmore averages 15.3 ppg and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Derrick Stewart averages 10.9 points per game, hitting a team high 38 three's, while
Preston Guiot averages 10.5 points per game and 7.7 assists per game.
Scouting Northwest Missouri
Northwest Missouri comes into the game against Southwest Baptist with an 11-5 (6-1 MIAA) record on the season after defeating Northeastern State 85-65 on Monday.
Northwest Missouri has five players averaging double figures with Dillon Starzl leading the way averaging 15.4 ppg and a team high 5.3 rpg. DeShaun Cooper averages 13.3 ppg and 4.4 apg, while Conner Crooker averages 13.2 ppg, Grant Cozad 11.2 ppg, and Bryston Williams 11.0 ppg.
