SBU Women's Basketball Defeated by Central Oklahoma 70-56

Box Score Edmond, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell at the hands of Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon 70-56. With the loss, SBU moves to 6-7 (1-5 MIAA) on the year while UCO improves to 9-5 (4-3 MIAA) on the season.

The Bearcats and Bronchos played a tight first half, with UCO taking an early advantage of 12-6 four minutes into the game. SBU kept UCO within striking distance, and would go up by five (30-25) with 3:58 left in the first half. The Bearcats maintained their small lead, going into the half up 35-32.

In the second half the Bearcats and Bronchos once again played a close game, with SBU holding a marginal lead through the first six minutes of the second half. However, UCO would take the lead for good at the 12:28 mark in the second half, and slowly pull away from SBU as the Bearcats fell 70-56.

Jacqui Zelenka was once again the leading scorer for SBU, giving the Bearcats 15 points to go along with a team high 8 rebounds. Morgan Lucy had 14 points down low, while Leann Lansdown had 8 and Dilonna Johnson contributed 7 points and 5 assists. As a team SBU shot 30.2% from the field, 16.0% from beyond the arc, and 70.0% from the free throw line.

The Bearcats return home on Thursday, January 16 when they host Northwest Missouri State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
